About Course

Norwegian Language Course A2 Part 1 is the first of two courses covering the A2 level. When you have finished the A2 level you will be able to understand daily life Norwegian quite well.

1. I can understand phrases and the highest frequency vocabulary related to areas of most immediate personal relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local area, employment). I can catch the main point in short, clear, simple messages and announcements.

2. I can read very short, simple texts. I can find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material such as advertisements, prospectuses, menus and timetables and I can understand short simple personal letters.

3. I can communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar topics and activities. I can handle very short social exchanges, even though I can’t usually understand enough to keep the conversation going myself.

4. I can use a series of phrases and sentences to describe in simple terms my family and other people, living conditions, my educational background and my present or most recent job.

5. I can write short, simple notes and messages. I can write a very simple personal letter, for example thanking someone for something.

Les gjerne enkle tekster på norsk, f.eks. i lettlest avisa www.klartale.no Remember to do the exercises under the videos! Remember to practice your oral skills! Online Courses are a great resource when learning a new language! Online Courses gives you lots of opportunities to practice and repetition of skills. Online Courses can help you improve your listening and writing skills. In addition you need to practice your language with other speakers of Norwegian. This can be a language teacher og some fellow Norwegian students. An online course can significantly reduce the numbers of hours needed with a teacher or native speaker of Norwegian, but it won´t eliminate the need for oral practice and dialog in Norwegian. It is also important to listen to Norwegian, for instance on Norwegian radio or TV. (You might need a VPN to get access to the Norwegian TV stations.) It is also a good idea to read simple Norwegian texts e.g. in easy reader Newspapers such as www.klartale.no Remember to test your language level(s)! At https://www.kompetansenorge.no/prover/norskprove/ove-til-proven/ there are many tests that can help you decide what level you are on. Quite often, you are on different leves in reading, writing, listening comprehension, grammar and so on. It is good to know your strenghts and weaknesses to make the best progress, when learning a new language. Finally, if you do have any questions please send me a message here in the course! By asking and getting answers to questions we are both helping other students that might have the same challenge! Kind regards, Henning Gustavsen
